How to Play Truth or Dare

The key to truth or dare is the fact that you’re encouraging players to reveal secrets, whether they’re a little obscure or downright naughty; hopefully you’ll find more of the latter. If you have never played, then we will break it down for you in stages.

Once all your friends and family are gathered around, then one person will start by asking ‘truth or dare?’. This will be to the person on their left or if you prefer a random approach, then how about spinning a bottle and seeing who it lands on. Either is a great option, but you could find that some players are chosen more often by using the spin the bottle approach.

The next bit is the key, because the nominated person will either choose a question (which they must answer truthfully) or fulfil a dare. Once either is completed, then that person is in charge and will be the next one to ask the question to someone else.

The titillating part of this game is that many of the players will dread the question they are being asked. If they cannot answer it then you can give them the option of a dare instead, but sometimes they are even worse. Our advice is to keep everything playful, especially the dares, because if people feel uncomfortable then they may decide not to play.
