Bluey’s World Brisbane Australia – The Immersive Experience

Bluey’s World Brisbane Australia – The Immersive ExperienceHaving spent a period of time travelling around the East coast of Australia, we ended up in Brisbane. This beautiful city offers something for everyone, from botanical gardens and animal sanctuaries to impressive museums and public beaches. But as you can imagine, we love to do things which are a little different and Bluey’s World Brisbane was certainly that.

You may be an adult with or without children who has seen the cartoon Bluey and enjoyed it, but you’re wondering whether heading to this kind of immersive experience is for you? We’ll begin by saying yes, if you’re a fan which many adults are, then why not join in with the fun and step into the home of Bluey, Bingo, their father Bandit and mother Chilli.

Buying Tickets for Bluey’s World

Because our trip in Australia involved constant travel, it was difficult for us to prebook attractions or activities. This meant that we had to wait until we arrived in Brisbane, before we contemplated booking tickets. In the end we looked on the website the day before we planned to visit and saw they had plenty of availability, so decided to go. We actually bought our tickets from the venue on the day. This was fine because there was availability, but sadly it wasn’t until a couple of hours later, so we had a long wait. Because of this we would recommend booking in advance, so you can turn up and simply head in.

Bluey’s World is located outside the central district of Brisbane and there isn’t much around. If you have a long wait, then there isn’t much else to do there. Entry to the venue is timed and you’ll understand why further on in this guide. Because of that there is limited capacity and tickets for popular sessions can sell out.

To buy tickets online head to ‘Book Now’, select the date, time and the number of people in your group, then choose your preferred payment option. If you’re not phased by a delay, then you can always buy your tickets on the day like we did, and the price will be the same. Prices can vary depending on the day of the week or time slot, but we paid just under 50 Australian Dollars each which is around 24 British Pounds. Children under 2 are free of charge, just make sure you speak to staff when you arrive.

Where is the Bluey’s World Experience?

Where is the Bluey’s World Experience? We’ll start off by giving you the opening hours, which is Monday it’s closed, Tuesday to Thursday from 9am to 2pm and Friday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

The location is a little more complicated because it is in what we could only describe as an industrial area. Bluey’s World Brisbane has been given an end date, and by that we mean it is a short-term attraction. So, it’s important that you check online before attempting to go. You tend to find that many of this type of attraction are found in the middle of no-where, so it’s a trek to get there (we’re thinking of activities such as Bubble Planet in Brussels).

From Brisbane CBD it’s less than a 20-minute drive, but you can also use the ferry or bus to get there. The address for the venue is.

Northshore Pavillion
281 MacArthur Ave, Hamilton QLD 4007

We drove and thankfully there is plenty of parking and it’s free. If you don’t have a car then there is the Northshore Hamilton ferry stop right next to the entrance. The 305 Bus also operates on weekdays and the stop is a 5-minute walk from the entrance.

What is Bluey’s World – Our Experience

As we mentioned above, we bought our tickets on the day from the venue and waited until our time slot. There are toilets near the entrance if you need them, we’d recommend nipping in (especially with the kids) because there aren’t any as you go through Bluey’s World.

What is Bluey’s World – Our ExperienceWe were told to head up to the entrance 10 minutes before our time slot. As you enter, you’re immediately met with the front of the Heeler family home. Your ticket will be scanned, and you’ll be given a pair of doggie ears, but the best part is that you have a choice of which characters ears you want (Bluey, Bingo, Bandit or Chilli). After putting on the ears, you are given an opportunity to take a photo of your group outside the house. You then join other families in the front garden and wait for the experience to begin.

Now it’s important to note here that we’re a couple in our forties, without children and everyone else had kids. At first, we felt a little silly, especially when we went into the first room of the house. But after a while everyone joined in with the games and that initial feeling went away. So, our advice if you’re heading there without kids is to just go with it and get involved.

We’re not going to give it all away and so we’ll summarise the experience, but if you don’t want to know anything then skip ahead.

As you wait in the garden of Bluey’s house, you are visited by a fairy who will welcome you through the front door. Your group will be led into the famous living room of the house, where you can look around. The fairy will tell you all a story and find a game to play which leads to a garden gnome. As part of the game the gnome comes to life and experiences everything for the first time. You follow the gnome through the rooms of the house in an attempt to find Bluey and Bingo, whilst meeting different characters along the way. Once you leave the living room you will head into the Cubby, where you can wind through the many blanket forts and play some games. After the cubby there is the bedroom and it’s here you’ll find Unicorse the most annoying hand puppet in the world, who is right royally grumpy and no help at all for finding Bluey and Bingo.

You wander through Bluey and Bingos wardrobe and into a disco themed room, because ‘Now it’s time to Dance’. Yep, you guessed it, here’s the room where you can dance like a super energetic Chattermax which everyone knows is Bluey’s favourite toy. Although you’re shown dance moves which you can follow, why not just go for it and bust some moves yourself.

After the dancing you head into the Playroom and Kitchen area, where there’s another clue to finding Bluey and Bingo. We loved this area because there was so much detail, including food in the fridge and cooker. You can see the small details from the cartoon are there, which makes it a more exciting experience for Bluey fans.

You then move to the Heelers Backyard where some games will be played, which is super exciting for the kids and there are a few seats for the adults to rest. After the backyard there are some outdoor areas including a forest and then a spot where you can enjoy the night sky and revisit important lessons from the show (we’re not going to lie, we shed a tear or two at this point and quickly wiped it away before anyone noticed).

bluey's neighbourhoodFinally, after a bit of emotional upheaval you’ll find the very puppies we have been looking for, Bluey and Bingo. This your opportunity to give them a hug and have a picture taken with them. We waited until the end and had a chat with the friendly gnome before she disappeared. But we were welcomed by all the staff and characters, and if it was their aim to make everyone feel special then it was achieved.

You will be given a ticket for any pictures taken and you can then head out into Bluey’s neighbourhood, where you’ll find the toilets or tactical wees, a shop, playground, some food and drink places and the booth to look at and buy your photos. Within the area are statues of the characters such as Bluey, Bingo at the bus stop and the Grannies in their cars. It’s the last bit of Bluey fun and a great way to rest after all the walking and standing, plus the Bluey themed drinks and food are fun.

As you can imagine, places such as this can be expensive, but we didn’t find the food or drink to be too costly. There are teddies of the characters, some clothing and toys in Alfie’s Gift Shop. The visit to Bluey’s World takes around 1 hour, but you can hang around the playground for another hour.

Can you Take Pictures in Bluey’s World?

Can you Take Pictures in Bluey’s World? You will notice that we don’t have many pictures in the various rooms and that’s because you are not allowed to take any photos or videos during the experience. There is probably a myriad of reasons for this, but we can imagine it’s to keep the experience secret and once in there that you stay immersed in the fun and not focused on taking pictures. If you want photos, then you can take them in the front of the house as you wait to go in and within the playground area. As mentioned above there is a booth to purchase your photos, with machines at the side where you can scan the barcode on the ticket given to you at the start. This gives you the opportunity to see how they turned out, so you can decide if you want to buy them or not. You’ll be asked if you want to purchase any of the pictures and you can pay on the machine, but we’ll prewarn you it was 20 Australian Dollars which is about 10 British Pounds for one. We decided to treat ourselves and chose the picture of us meeting Bluey and Bingo, mainly because it was lots of fun and we’re a sucker for a meet and greet.

Should I Visit Bluey’s World Brisbane?

Should I Visit Bluey’s World Brisbane? We think there are a few caveats here, which will help you decide whether this immersive experience is for you. Do your kids love the Bluey cartoons, and do you like them? If you answer yes to one or both then we think you’d love Bluey’s World.

As we mentioned above, we went there with no children and although we’ve done places like Disney and Harry Potter World, we did feel a little silly. But the staff made us feel at home and we joined in and even helped solve some clues as we wandered through the rooms. The crux of it is, just let loose and enjoy yourself, because we’re sure any kids who go, certainly will.

The best part of this experience is how interactive it is, whether you’re looking at the props in the house, playing games, working out the clues or enjoying the surprises such as character appearances. Bluey’s World is a memorable experience and one we’ll remember fondly from our trip to Australia.

Sadly, we have a feeling that it may not be around forever, so make sure you check the website, but if it’s open then our advice would be to prebook. Bluey is a popular show, and it will book up fast, especially at weekends.
